Vaccinations That We Offer For Your Dog

Rabies
Every dog should be vaccinated against Rabies for your protection as well as theirs. Rabies is a fatal virus that pets can contract from wildlife. The vaccine will protect your dog from developing rabies if a rabid animal attacks them. Also, the vaccination provides a “barrier population” that minimizes the transmission from wildlife to humans. Unfortunately, there is no way to test your dog for Rabies while he is alive. If your dog is unvaccinated and is suspected to be rabid he would have to be euthanized in order to test the brain for the rabies virus.
We offer a 1 year and 3 year Rabies Vaccine.

DAPP
The DAP vaccine protects against Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus type 2 and Parainfluenza. These viruses are highly contagious and can be fatal to your dog, therefore, all dogs should be vaccinated against them.
Canine Distemper causes neurologic and respiratory symptoms. This virus is often seen in young dogs and puppies. Treatment does not guarantee survival and some patients will develop lifelong issues from the disease.
Canine Parvovirus causes vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration and fever. This disease most commonly affects puppies and young dogs and is often fatal even sometimes with treatment.
Canine Adenovirus type 2 causes respiratory disease and is spread through coughing. Symptoms include coughing, retching/gagging, coughing up a white foamy discharge, fever and nasal discharge. If your dog is ever around other dogs he should be vaccinated against this virus.
Parainfluenza is a highly contagious respiratory virus. Symptoms include coughing, fever, nasal discharge, lethargy, and loss of appetite. This virus is most often transmitted in dogs from rescue centers, breedign kennels, or pet stores.
We offer a 1 year or 3 year DAPP Vaccine.

Bordetella
The Bordetella vaccine protects against Canine Bordetella Bronchiseptica. This organism is known to cause “Kennel Cough”. Symptoms of Kennel Cough include coughing, coughing up a white foamy discharge, nasal discharge, sneezing and sometimes fever. Kennel Cough is highly contagious and your dog should be vaccinated against this disease if he sees other dogs (i.e. is boarded, gets groomed, goes to the dog park or visits pet stores).
We offer a 1 year Bordetella Vaccine

Lepto
The Lepto vaccine protects against Leptospirosis. Leptospirosis is a bacteria carried by wildlife. The wildlife who carry this Leptospirosis excrete the bacteria in their urine which then washes into standing water when it rains. It also can collect in water bowls left outside and in unfiltered ponds. Your dog may pick up Leptospirosis on their paws then ingest it while grooming themselves or may ingest when drinking standing water. Symptoms of this disease are fever, lethargy, joint pain, liver and kidney disease. Leptospirosis can be transmitted to humans. There is no cure for Leptospirosis and it can be fatal. If your dog has access to areas where wildlife may be at some point he should be vaccinated against Leptospirosis.
We offer a 1 year Lepto Vaccine.

Lyme
The Lyme vaccination protects dogs from Lyme disease. Lyme disease is carried and transmitted by ticks. Lyme disease used to only be found in the northern part of the United States but has been recently found more and more in Florida. Symptoms of Lyme disease are lameness due to inflammation of the joints, lethargy, lack of appetite, kidney damage and sometimes heart and nervous system disease. If you have ticks in your area your dog should be vaccinated against Lyme disease.
We offer a 1 year Lyme Vaccine.

Canine Influenza
The canine influenza vaccine protects dogs from canine influenza. Canine Influenza is spread through aerosols, droplets and direct contact to infected dogs. Symptoms of this virus include coughing, sneezing, fever, nasal discharge, rapid breathing, loss of appetite and lethargy. The virus is hard to diagnose since the symptoms mimic most upper respiratory infections. In order to confirm the disease a special nasal and conjunctiva swab will need to be cultured. If your dog comes in contact with other dogs (i.e. dog parks, dog shows) he should be vaccinated for Canine Influenza.
We offer a 1 year Influenza Vaccine.
